As the party's leadership evolved and prepared for the 2024 presidential elections, Aw-Ali Abdi was selected as Waddani’s vice-presidential candidate, bringing balance, experience, and regional representation to the ticket. In the 2024 presidential election, the Waddani Party won the presidency, with Abdirahman Irro elected president and Mohamed Ali aw-abdi as Vice President.
